Happy Holidays: You Can Park for Free in Lansing
The holidays can be a stressful enough time as it is. You're working, running errands, and all the normal stuff while also getting your Christmas gift shopping done. So, Mayor Andy Schor and the City of Lansing have decided to take something off of your plate this season, and that something is paying for on-street parking, according to WILX News 10.
Normally if you're visiting a place like Downtown Lansing, you'd have to pay for a spot. However, The City of Lansing is going to suspend pay for on-street parking starting December 12th and going through January 2nd. They've done this before, and it's to help encourage citizens to shop and spend locally without having to worry about paying for parking, or those dreaded parking tickets.
Sure, trying to find parking in Downtown Lansing isn't nearly the best that parking in Downtown East Lansing is, but it certainly doesn't hurt to get a little reprieve from having to pay.
Here's another cool parking change that you don't have to wait for. The "Free Parking Friday" promotion is being extended through March 31st of 2023. So if you're off to have lunch with friends in Old Town, or to grab dinner Downtown on a Friday night, you still won't have to worry about paying for parking for a little while.
Here's something to keep in mind: although parking will be free, you still need to be mindful of the maximum time allowed. There are signs that will tell you how long you can park there, and those time limits will still be enforced.
