Once an "enforcer" for the Red Wings, this former player is bringing his comedy act to a Lansing stage.

The Lansing State Journal reports that former Detroit Red Wings player, Darren McCarty, is bringing his stand up routine to Lansing. Doing stand up is a pretty new development for McCarty; one of his friends asked if he "had any interest in hosting a couple (comedy shows)", and McCarty, who is pretty open to trying new things, gave it a go and enjoyed it.

Never having seen McCarty's stand up myself, I can't say how funny it is. What I can tell you though, is that he's not shy about the different topics he'll cover in his routine. In McCarty's interview with LSJ, he says he pulls from past life experience to do his routine, talking about "all the money [he's] either lost or blown, or the divorces", even medical marijuana. Darren McCarty and his stand up routine are coming to The Loft in Lansing on Thursday, October 18th.
