According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, certain federal work requirements for able-bodied adults ages 18 to 49 without dependents go back into effect today.  A person can meet the work requirement by working an average of at least 20 hours per week, participate 20 hours per week in an approved employment and training program or -participate in community service by volunteering at a nonprofit organization.

The new work requirement will apply to every county in the state of Michigan. According to the MDHHS, there are some exemptions to the new work requirement. Those exemptions include being disabled, pregnant, a victim of domestic violence, or physically or mentally unable to work the required amount. Click here to find out more.
