Florida Georgia Line Ruled the Hot Country Songs Chart During the 2010s

In terms of country's songs and singles, Florida Georgia Line were the band to beat over the course of the 2010s. Billboard has released their end-of-decade Hot Country Songs charts, and the superstar country duo appear in three of the decade's five top songs.

For the ten-year period, the song that spent the most time at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart was "Meant to Be," a duet between Florida Georgia Line and pop star Bebe Rexha that broke a number of chart records in 2017 and 2018. That song even beat out Sam Hunt's ubiquitous, record-breaking "Body Like a Back Road," which clocks in at No. 2 on the year-end chart.

Though FGL cede the No. 2 spot to Hunt, they quickly return to the chart with the No. 3 song of the decade, "Cruise." That song -- a collaboration with rapper Nelly -- earned the duo 24 weeks at No. 1 in 2012, and kicked off a series of crossovers for the duo with artists like the Chainsmokers and the Backstreet Boys.

Dan + Shay's "Tequila" makes an impressive outing on the year-end chart, too, coming in at No. 4. Still, Florida Georgia Line come back into the top 5 one more time with "H.O.L.Y.," a 2016 hit that came off their third studio album, Dig Your Roots.

The country duo are sprinkled into the rest of the decade's Top 20 best-selling songs, though nowhere are they are prevalent as they are in the Top 5. Throughout the decade, FGL's hits were massive: When one of their songs was popular, it was enormously, record-breaking-ly popular.
