Excessive Heat Watch Issued For Parts Of Michigan
The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for parts of lower Michigan. The counties in the watch include Berrien, Branch, Cass, Hillsdale and St. Joseph. The Excessive Heat Watch is in effect from Thursday afternoon through Saturday evening. The NWS says that afternoon to early evening temperatures from Thursday through Saturday will be in the 90s and the heat indices will be from around 105 to 110 degrees. At this point, (Wednesday, 7/17/19 at 6 am) the Lansing area is NOT included in the Excessive Heat Watch. However, it's still going to be VERY hot and humid for the Lansing area as well. Accuweather says that we'll see a high near 88 on Thursday and the 'real feel' will feel like 96. On Friday, the high temperature for the Lansing area is expected to be near 97 and the 'real feel' could be as high as 103.
