Over the years, restaurant growth in the Lansing area has ebbed and flowed. So far, 2025 is shaping up to be one of the more abundant years in recent memory when it comes to openings.

Now, we have another one to add to the list. And this is a place that will be completely new to the area.

Lansing Restaurant Openings

The greater Lansing area has seen the addition of an Indian cuisine restaurant, two fast-casual Mediterranean cuisine restaurants, and more, and that's just been so far this summer.

Soon, East Lansing will welcome a Mochinut location.

When Will Mochinut Be Open?

As of right now, we don't know when 'soon' is. But the Mochinut Instagram for the soon-to-be East Lansing location has been pretty active recently. Take a look at some of the menu items you can expect.

Mochinut serves what's called, mochi donuts. If you're wondering what a mochi donut is, here's how the website describes it;

Mochi donut is a donut that originated from Hawaii which is a combination of American doughnuts and Japanese mochi. Mochinut is gaining popularity owing to its unique shape and wonderful texture; light crispy coating with a soft chewy inside.

Here's what we do know about the new eatery: its location. You'll be able to find it at 311 W Grand River Avenue in East Lansing, the former location of Taqueria Fire Taco (down the block from Crunchy's).

And, it serves more than the donut name implies. The menu also includes mochi balls, Korean hot dogs, boba drinks, and more.

We'll keep an eye out for when they announce an opening date.
