How the Dumbest Cities in Michigan Were Determined

Whether the rationale was fair or not can be debated, but Roadsnacks recently ranked the dumbest cities in the state of Michigan.

Every city with a population of at least 5,000 residents was considered. The researchers primarily looked at two factors regarding citizens 25 years of age or older for each city: the percentage of the population of each city that are high school dropouts, and the percentage of the population of each city with a college degree.

They crunched all the numbers and came up with some surprising results.

Many (but not all) of the cities this study determined to be among Michigan's dumbest are concentrated near its biggest population centers - several suburbs of Detroit made the list, as did places like Flint and Saginaw.

A handful of cities along the shore of Lake Michigan made the Top 25, as did several towns within a stone's throw of the Indiana line. No city in Northern Michigan was rated to be among the state's dumbest.
