Inside Dough Square: East Lansing’s New Fresh Dumpling Spot

I talk about food a lot, so it's no surprise that I want to talk about a new restaurant in East Lansing. I had the chance to try this one recently.

New East Lansing Restaurants

There's a new eatery in East Lansing that specializes in fresh, handmade dumplings called Dough Square.

It opened at the end of November 2025.

How Dough Square Makes Dumplings

When I tell you these dumplings are fresh and handmade, you don't just have to take my word for it, you can see if for yourself. They wait until you place your order to make the dumplings. Then they're made right there while you wait. You can literally watch someone hand-fill each dumpling to perfection.

There are chicken, pork, beef, lamb, and vegetarian dumplings that can be served steamed, boiled, or pan-fried.

While I was there, I got the pork and scallion dumplings steamed and the vegetarian dumplings with zucchini pan-fried.

Both sets of dumplings were absolutely incredible, and so were the house-made dipping sauces served with it! The red/pink one was the perfect amount of sweet and spicy.

Dumplings aren't the only things that Dough Square sells—you can also enjoy soup, baozi, salads, and pancakes.

Where to Find It

If you enjoy traditional Chinese food and freshly made dumplings, Dough Square is worth a visit. It's located at 2929 Hannah Blvd in East Lansing, in the same spot as Kung Fu Tea.
