Beloved East Lansing Dumpling Spot Suddenly Closes
It is with extreme sadness that I share that another Lansing area restaurant has closed its doors.
Lansing Area Restaurant Closures
Dough Square Dumpling House in East Lansing has permanently closed its doors.
This locally owned mom-and-pop restaurant opened in East Lansing in November 2025, serving freshly-made, authentic Chinese dumplings and other traditional Chinese comfort foods. Dumplings were made by hand after you placed your order—that’s how fresh they were.
Dough Square's Sudden Closure
Unfortunately, "due to unforeseen circumstances", Dough Square was not able to continue operating.
At first, the closure was mentioned on the Lansing Foodies Facebook group page, however, it was unconfirmed at the time. It seemed odd and very sudden, because Dough Square had just signed on to be a part of Lansing restaurant week this year.
News of the closure was confirmed with a note that Dough Square posted to their door, reading;
Dough Square Closure Notice
We're very sorry to share that Dough Square will be closing permanently.
We are incredibly grateful for the support from our community. It has meant so much to us to bring authentic Chinese dumplings to East Lansing and share a taste of home with you.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are unable to continue operating at this time.
This is not an easy decision, and we truly appreciate every customer who supported us along the way.
We hope to serve you again in the future.
Thank you again for everything. - Dough Square
Dough Square was located at 2929 Hannah Boulevard in East Lansing.
Hopefully, Dough Square will be able to reopen in that location or a new one. In the short time it was open, Dough Square gained a loyal following and received a 4.9-star rating on Google.
