This one always ruffles some feathers. Does ketchup belong in the fridge? I'm gonna go ahead and say it doesn't. I know it says "Keep Refrigerated" on it, but cold ketchup grosses me out. You're probably thinking, "This girl drinks Bloody Marys but won't eat cold ketchup?" I don't know what it is, but I don't want to mix cold ketchup in with whatever warm it is I'm eating. Now everything is lukewarm (barf). My ex and I actually got into an argument about this, and yes, this argument is the exact reason we broke up. I'm kidding, I'm not that passionate about ketchup. I actually let him win the argument and put it in the fridge since he loved ketchup so much that he practically drank it.

According to Eat This, Not That! even though the bottle says it should be refrigerated, it doesn't actually have to be kept in the fridge, because of it's natural acidity. But they do say that it's smarter to refrigerate it because the ketchup can be affected by it's storing conditions. Still on the fence about it? The Kitchn says ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, fish sauce, and hot sauce are all items that you don't have to refrigerate. They all have a shelf life anywhere from 2 months to 3 years.

So, I'm going to call it like I see it and say ketchup doesn't belong in the fridge. But, do whatever it is your heart desires. Keep your ketchup in the fridge or don't. According to experts, you're fine either way.
