Cold – But Shark Free – Surf’s Up On the Great Lakes
Surfing is in the news today, in two VERY different places on the globe. Yesterday, while you were praying that your power wouldn't go out (or that it would come back on) people were surfing - on Lake Erie. Off "the coast" of Cleveland. Where, according to Fox8.com, the water was a balmy 33 degrees. Here's some video.
Meanwhile, today in Western Australia (which may or may not exist), within the span of six hours, two men were attacked by sharks. The area where the attacks occurred is near the area hosting the Margaret River Pro Surfing Tournament. According to the Guardian, after the tournament received the news about the first attack, they suspended the contest for about an hour, so they could get more jet-skis in the water and drones overhead.
My question? Where would you rather be surfing? Cold Lake Erie, or the shark invested Indian Ocean?
