We had a great time in June attending the Firekeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway, and I was reminded during that recent visit of the many years we’d spent there at the track as a family, enjoying the races and all of the various entertainment that is a part of every race weekend at MIS.

The Speedway has always been a great place to be, whether you’re hanging with friends or bringing your family. There’s nothing quite like getting up close and seeing what’s going on in the pits as the crews ready the area for the race, or the garages where you can get a glimpse of the work being done on a the cars, one of which you might even see cross the finish line later. And there’s one thing I can guarantee, you have never experienced anything quite like the raw power of the vehicles racing by you in the stands during a NASCAR race. The sounds, the force, the rumble, the speed, and the feel of that few seconds at every pass around the track is like nothing else.

Don’t forget that you never know when you’re going to run into, or see your favorite NASCAR drivers from the present or the past, or maybe other celebrities who might be enjoying the day at MIS. I’ve seen that happen a lot.

Add all of that to the great times you can experience while staying in the campgrounds, hanging and enjoying some terrific food and entertainment in the Fan Plaza and so much more. It’s all what makes Michigan International Speedway a race weekend destination to be a part of every June and August.

Speaking of August, the next big race weekend is Aug. 9-11 featuring the Consumers Energy 400!
