You probably read that as "quitters" at first...didn't you? Well, for some who love to quilt, quitters they are not!

Maybe you're a pro-quilter and maybe it just was one of your many pandemic hobbies, either way, you are welcome at Country Stitches of Jackson and Lansing's Quilt-A-Thon later this May!

What's A Quilt-A-Thon

According to the "Quilt-A-Thon - Jackson" Facebook Event page, the Quilt-A-Thon is a way to help the community by finishing quilts for local charities.

They say no special skills are needed and that anyone is welcome (though sign-up is mandatory as space is limited due to COVID-19).

They are hosted throughout the year and Country Stitches owner Ann Fuller told WILX, "The Quilt-A-Thon is a great way to keep the holiday spirit alive year-round."

Country Stitches - May Quilt-A-Thon

According to WILX, "Country Stitches is Michigan’s largest sewing machine dealer" which makes them the perfect place to host an event like this.

Luckily there are two stores in the area that can accommodate the quilt-making on May 28th and 29th.

Country Stitches of East Lansing, WILX says, will be hosting from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, May 28th and from 10 to 3 on Saturday, May 29th.

Country Stitches of Jackson, reports News 10, will also be hosting those same days and times.

How To Sign Up / Get Involved

In order to participate at either store, you must sign up which you can do by calling the East Lansing Country Stitches location at (517) 351-2416 or the Jackson location at (517) 782-7100.

You don't need to actually be there to quilt to make an impact, though. WILX reports donations of materials such as 100% cotton fabric and polyester batting are welcome and appreciated.

The Jackson location's event page also states you can even help from the comforts of your own home. "Take fabric home to make quilt tops, take finished quilts home to tie. Just ask and we'll find a way for you to help," they said.
