Brett Young Reflects on Wife Taylor’s Support: ‘I Couldn’t Do It Without Her’
As he prepares for fatherhood, Brett Young is coming to the realization that, at least for him, there is no such thing as a true, fair balance between his career and his home life. Fortunately, he's not the only country star dad who feels that way.
"I think this is something that Dierks [Bentley] has said before, but you don't [find a balance]. You can't really balance it," Young explains to The Boot and other outlets. "And I think that's why we appreciate -- I'm speaking for myself specifically, but as country artists, I think that's why we appreciate the women in our lives so much."
Between touring, recording and promoting new music, country stars keep challenging schedules, and often need the support of a partner in order to raise children. Young says that he's focusing more on making sure his career never puts too heavy of a burden on his wife, Taylor, as their child's primary caretaker.
"I think the balance is that depending on the person that you're with, and that you're sharing your life with, you just don't wanna push their limits," he goes on to say. "Luckily for me, I'm with somebody that's very understanding and supportive."
After all, Young's has been along for the ride since the beginning of his career. "She has seen me play for three people at a bar in Scottsdale, Ariz., and she's seen me play for 80,000 people. She's been there since the beginning," Young continues. "She gets it, as much as anybody can get it. I don't even get it. This is a crazy life, and it changes all the time."
As his career continues to grow, however, Young insists that Taylor still has the more difficult of their two jobs: "She is better than me. I say it every day," he admits. "I couldn't do it without her."
