Barstool Sports President Found Best Pizza In Michigan

President and Inventor of Barstool Sports, Dave Portnoy has been bouncing around Michigan trying pizza from different restaurants since coming to town to promote Greektown Casino's Barstool Sportsbook. A couple of weeks ago he stopped by a couple places in Lansing and East Lansing.

He called Fredi the Pizzaman's pizza in Melvindale the best pizza in the Detroit area.

“Best pizza in Detroit. I found it. Fredi The Pizzaman, bar none, hands down, I don’t care what style, this is the best pizza in Detroit. Period, end of story.”

He ended up giving the pizza a high review and goes on to say he doesn't even know what a pizza needs to get a 9 anymore because Fredi's is great and got an 8.7.

If you've never heard of Fredi the Pizzaman, that's because the owner doesn't advertise. Owner Fredi Bello likes to run his joint the old fashioned way. He has one busser and one waitress and is the only one cooking. The restaurant is closed on Tuesday's and is usually open until 5 p.m., but will be open noon to 6 p.m. because of Barstool's review.

After discovering that his son Antonio had autism, Fredi started raising money to spread Autism Awareness and add Sensory Rooms to schools. Since 2016, through events and donations, Fredi's has raised over $68,000.
