The Meridian Mall in Okemos is Getting a New Store
Lots of changes have happened over the years at Meridian Mall in Okemos. Now, it's about to get another.
One of those most recent changes was that Schuler Books moved out...
...but just across the hall in what was the former Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Now, the Meridian Mall is getting an addition in a now vacant, former-department store.
According to the Lansing State Journal, the Meridian Mall will be welcoming Ashley Homestore.
This home furnishing chain store will be taking over the former Yonkers space, which is near the former home of Schuler Books.

With the addition of Ashley Homestore, this will mean that all the "anchor spaces" are filled.
At this point an opening date has not been announced. However, the general manager for the property, Adam Hodges, said that construction began earlier this month (February 2024).

With the addition of this Ashley Homestore, there will be two location in the greater Lansing area. This one, in Okemos at the Meridian Mall. And the other, on Lansing's west side on West Saginaw Highway.
The former Yonkers in Meridian Mall closed in the summer of 2018. Since then, seasonally, it's been a Spirit Halloween. It will be nice to see a permanent business set up shop in the mall and, hopefully, breathe some life back into it. Meridian Mall has seen its fair share of closures and openings over the years.
