Country Icon Alan Jackson Announces Farewell Tour, One Michigan Stop
After more than three decades of touring, country superstar Alan Jackson is embarking upon his farewell tour.
Jackson's "Last Call: One More for the Road Tour" has one Michigan stop currently listed among its itinerary dates: August 24 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.
Why Is Alan Jackson Retiring?
At 65, Alan Jackson is considerably younger than many other hitmakers who continue to tour - Willie Nelson, Reba McEntire and Alabama among them.

Jackson announced in 2021 that he had been diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease ten years prior. According to the Mayo Clinic, Charcot-Marie-Tooth is a "group of inherited disorders that cause nerve damage. This damage is mostly in the arms and legs (peripheral nerves). Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease is also called hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy."

In an interview with NBC's Today show at the time, Jackson said, "I never wanted to do the big retirement tour, like people do, then take a year off and then come back. I think that's kinda cheesy," Jackson says. "And I'm not saying I won't be able to tour. I'll try to do as much as I can."
Apparently the time has come. Jackson has had to cancel a number of shows here and there in the years since making his diagnosis public, and feels like now is the right time for him to begin his ride off into the sunset.
