The third annual Olive Burger Festival was scheduled for September. However, according to Lansing State Journal, the group has officially canceled this year's celebration.

Why the Festival Is Taking a Break

Event chair and coordinator, Erin Brains, confirmed that the festival will return in 2026, better than ever. "We want to continue hosting an amazing burger party, but we need more time to get everything together," organizers shared on Facebook on May 19. "So, we won't be celebrating this year and will hold the next Olive Burger Festival in 2026."

While last year's event drew in 1,800 attendees, it was down from the 2,500 it had in its debut year. That, coupled with the overlap of events, including a Detroit Tigers playoff game, meant the festival took a $5,000 financial hit in 2024.

Brains also cited a personal scheduling conflict: "I didn't want to rely on doing all the planning remotely," she said, referring to her family obligations out of town in August.

What’s Next for the Olive Burger Festival

Ultimately, this year's decision was to honor the spirit of the festival. As organizers put it, "We want to make sure our beloved Olive Burger gets the celebration it deserves."

So, while it's a pause, it's not the end. Stay hungry, Lansing! 2026 will be here before you know it.
