For 50 years a stuffed polar bear has stood guard in the MSU Natural Resources Building. He's been petted and grabbed and even kidnapped, but he's finally going away for a long overdue makeover. According to the Lansing State Journal, staff and students raised $8,000 so "Beary White" can go to Sandusky, MI (in the thumb) to get the full dead polar bear spa treatment. "Beary" was shot in 1957, in Alaska, by a hunter from Oak Park, MI who donated the bear to the MSU Museum. In 1966 he was relocated to the Natural Resources building lobby. He'll be back soon.
