It's approximately 260 miles from East Lansing to Indianapolis. That's not a very long road trip for MSU fans traveling to the Final Four in a car. However, it is a much longer trip for someone who plans to travel by bicycle. According to the Lansing State Journal, that's exactly how Derek Blalock will get to the game. Blalock left Wednesday afternoon and plans to arrive in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday morning. He is pedaling his way to Indy to honor his friend Tommy Smith, who died before his 18th birthday from an diagnosed heart condition.

According to the article from LSJ, Blalock hopes his bicycle ride can help save other kids like Tommy. Through their nonprofit Tommy’s Heart, the Smith family and Blalock hope to provide free heart screenings to every teenager in Michigan. After his trip to Indy, Blalock plans to ride throughout the United States and is hoping to raise $250,000. You can read more about the nonprofit by clicking here.
