Auto racing team owner Roger Penske says he's exploring the idea of opening an auto racing museum in Michigan. According to a report from the Detroit Free Press, Penske wants to build the museum in downtown Detroit. He's been a big booster of Detroit for years, helping with the efforts to build a light rail line that's under construction as well as the Grand Prix that takes place on Detroit's Belle Isle.

Penske already has a Penske Racing Museum with race cars, trophies and memorabilia, located in an automotive dealership mall in Arizona. A decision on the Michigan museum is possible in the coming months.
