The Michigan DNR  has announced that a third deer with CWD - Chronic Wasting Disease - has been found in Meridian Township.

According to the Lansing State Journal, the latest deer was a 5 year old doe, and was killed on "the same property and the same field" as the second one. All three deer had been living within a two mile radius of the intersection of Marsh and Haslett Roads.

Based on genetic testing, all three deer appear to be related - which is a good thing, because it's possible the disease is isolated to just the one family group of deer. CWD is a disease fatal to all types of North American deer, but there's been no evidence it can be transmitted to humans.
