The East Lansing/Lansing Alumnae chapter of the Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity is hosting a scholarship competition, “Paving the Way for Young Musicians”, for grades 6-12. The winner will be announced at the “Music is Alive in Our Lives” event.

The event is free, open to the public, and will take place on March 29, 2014 from 2 PM - 4 PM at St. Stephen Lutheran Church located at 2900 North Waverly Road Lansing, Michigan 48906. “Music is Alive in Our Lives” will include a lecture entitled "Opportunity Meets Preparation: How the Rubber Meets the Road" by Jazz Pianist and Michigan State University Professor Reggie Thomas, followed by scholarship competitor performances and a reception.
