According to the Lansing State Journal, a yellow Labrador retriever will join the staff at Eaton Rapids Public Schools this fall. The dog, named "Jazz", will serve as a calming influence on students who need it and will also serve as a first line of defense against illegal substances in any of the school buildings in the Eaton Rapids District.   Mike Morgan of Mid-Michigan Kennels is Jazz's trainer and her soon-to-be handler will be Brent Watkins. Watkins is the district’s special education director.
