I have been in country radio for over 20 years and I have to say country music has the most dedicated and loyal fans, and the artists in the format are pretty amazing.  I have been blessed to meet many artists over the years and many of them I met before they were famous.

Record Labels usually do radio tours when a new artist is signed to the label, then they take them across the country to play a few songs and meet radio folk.  I had no idea who Taylor Swift, Eric Church, Dierks Bently, Tim Mcgraw, and Blake Shelton were when I first met them.  Just aspiring artists that want to make it in country music.

So let's talk about the country star of the week in Michigan, Balke Shelton. He played at Van Andel arena last night in Grand Rapids. Tonight he will play Little Ceasars Arena in Detroit.  So what is Blake the TV and country star like?  Let me tell you, what you see with Blake is what you get.

Blake Connects With Michigan Fans For 3 Hours

He did a meet and greet last night before the show for some lucky fans.  Then met with about 8 of us radio folk in what is called the radio room. A very relaxed 30-minute hang that was like talking to your neighbor next door.

It was a great show and Blake so connected with the crowd as he said how much enjoyed the people of Michigan and how much he loved playing here over the years.  He sang all the hits, made us laugh, and played for almost 3 hours.
