Today is National Coffee Day and there are some places that are giving out free coffee to celebrate the event. You can find out more about the free coffee places by clicking here.

However, once you get that free cup of coffee, hear some 'strange' things that you might want to add to your cup of joe:

    Booze!

This option should really surprise no one...they call it 'Irish Coffee'. Or in Sweden, it's called a "kaffekask" which involves adding strong distilled liquor like vodka. (Which sounds pretty gross to me...)

    Egg

The idea of adding an egg to your coffee comes from Scandinavia. Apparently, the idea is that it clarifies the coffee, leaving a perfectly colored drink with no sediment. (Here's a how-to video on how to make a Norwegian Egg Coffee...you're welcome...)

    Butter

Wellness experts swear by the buttery morning drink and say that adding some butter to your morning drink boosts energy. It's a popular idea among Paleo eaters. (Read more here.)

    Cinnamon

I kind of like this idea. (Although I've never personally tried it...) Experts say to put some cinnamon in your coffee rather than cream and sugar. It can help boost your immune system and save you some calories.

    Ice Cream!

I don't think this idea needs any explanation because, well, it's ice cream...However, we can thank Germany for this idea. It's called an 'Eiskaffee' and you can click here for the recipe. You're welcome!
