It seems like Michigan is one of those states where we go big or go home.

From giant pies to enormous porches, we take our world records seriously—Perhaps,  a little too seriously. But, really, it's all in good fun.

If you were ever like me as a kid and spent your quiet reading time pouring over the Guinness World Records book, then this is for you...

Here are some of the most delightfully over-the-top things Michigan holds the world record for.

1. The Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Rosie the Riveter

In 2017, Ypsilanti gathered 3,755 people wearing blue jumpsuits and red bandanas to awaken their inner Rosie the Riveter.

2. The World Record Hockey Attendance

Michigan Stadium hosted 113,441 fans for an outdoor game called, The Big Chill, between Michigan and Michigan State in 2010. That's more people watching hockey than the entire population of some small countries.

3. The World's Largest Cherry Pie Pan

Traverse City takes its cherry obsession seriously. In 1987, a 28,350-pound cherry pie was baked, and although the record was later broken, our giant pie pan still stands proudly.

4. The World's Longest Freshwater Shoreline

Michigan has 3,288 miles of freshwater shoreline. That means no matter where you are, you're probably close enough to dip your toes in a lake at any given time.

5. The World's Largest Front Porch

The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island has a 660-foot porch, perfect for relaxing, people-watching, and enjoying Victorian life at its finest.

6. The World's Longest Wooden Tower Suspension Bridge

SkyBridge Michigan in Boyne Falls stretches over 1,200 feet long and even has a glass-bottomed section. Hope you're not afraid of heights, because the views are spectacular.

7. The World's Largest Christmas Store

Bronner's in Frankenmuth is thousands of square feet of Christmas chaos. If you don't leave with at least five new ornaments, have you even gone?

8. The World's Largest Lug Nut

Lansing has a 5,000-pound lug nut on a chimney in honor of the Lansing Lugnuts baseball team.
