If I'm being honest, I have to admit that I'm one of those people that gets a little disappointed when we don't have a white Christmas. I don't need a ton of snow on Christmas, but if we don't at least have a slight dusting of the white stuff covering up the dead grass, it's disappointing to me.

If YOU are dreaming of a white Christmas this year in the Lansing area, you might need to hold on to that dream for another year. According to the latest map from the National Weather Service, it looks like the Lansing area only has a 58 percent chance of seeing an "official" white Christmas this year. An "official" white Christmas means that there's at least one inch of snow on the ground.

If you're looking for an "almost guaranteed official white Christmas," you might want to head to the Upper Peninsula where some areas have over a 90% chance of seeing an "official" white Christmas. Click here to see the white Christmas probability map from the National Weather Service.
