Lansing Ice Cream Enthusiasts Want to Know, When Will Scoops Open?
It's that time of year in Michigan where the weather is warm and the lines for the ice cream shop are long. It's a good thing the Greater Lansing area has a delicious lineup of ice cream shops to choose from.
From East Lansing to Grand Ledge, and from soft serve to hand-dipped ice cream, Lansing has it all.
Why Lansing Ice Cream Fans Are Waiting on Scoops
However, if you frequent the Old Town area (as I do), you'll notice that one of those ice cream shops hasn't opened for the season yet.
It looks like Scoops in Old Town has yet to start scooping ice cream for the season.
I say yet because there are multiple reasons to believe that Scoops will be open for the season, but maybe they're having a hard time getting there.
Signs Point to Scoops Opening Soon
First, it says that they are coming back for the 2026 season on the Scoops Facebook page. Originally they had planned to be open by May 1. But that got pushed back to May 8, then 15, then 22, then 30, then June 6. As you can see, we've passed June 6.
Second, there's signage up on the building stating Scoops would be open by May 30. Again, this date has passed, but the physical signage gives us hope that people have been in the building.

All of this to say—it looks like Scoops is going to open, but there's no telling when. I do hope it's soon because I could really go for a scoop of ice cream. Does anyone know when they're going to open?

When they do open, they can be found on the southeast corner of W. César E. Chávez Avenue and N. Capitol Avenue in Old Town.
