Road rage in Michigan is a serious problem. Did you know that 50% of fatal accidents usually involve some sort of aggressive driving.

I read a story the other day about a road rage incident that took place recently which involved the shooting of a man who was driving with his wife in the car.

It was a tailgating incident where a person shot and killed an innocent man for no good reason.  Basically wrong place at the wrong time scenario.

What exactly is road rage? This from Michiganautolawcom:

Road rage is unsafe and aggressive driving with a reckless disregard for the safety of others on the road. It is often combined with a deliberate intent to harm, intimidate or cause fear in another driver. It can lead to deadly consequences and involves violations of a state’s traffic and criminal laws.

The best thing you can do is to avoid road rage at all costs. If you see someone driving very aggressively, don't engage in any kind of aggressive behavior yourself. All that does is add fuel to the fire.

It's best to take the high road, so to speak, and think of your own safety as well as the safety of other passengers in your vehicle.

Here in Michigan, there are penalties for road rage.  There's a penalty for reckless driving, assault with a deadly weapon, and intentional discharge of a firearm from a motor vehicle. Michiganautolaw.com breaks it all down.

There are several types of aggressive driving behavior you could encounter while driving on our Michigan roads. Ramming another vehicle is just one example. Add to that, forcing another driver off the road, and what about blocking cars attempting to pass or charge lanes. All of the above considered road rage.

And there's so much more you could add to that list. Safety should be considered the most important factor when driving anywhere.

I think it's safe to say that many of us with a valid driver's license can get a little upset with other drivers on the road. But it's how you handle any given situation that can keep things from escalating beyond control.
