What I’ve Learned About Living in Williamston
Moving to a new place, you gotta get out and do some exploring. I'm currently living in Williamston and loving it! Let me tell you about some of the great things I've already learned about the area.
It's a great place to exercise outdoors! There are tons of hiking trails and parks, and if you've done all of the trails in Williamston, then Okemos is a hop skip and a jump away. I recently did Ted Black Woods, and if you're looking for any easy walk through, this one's the one for you. It's a 1.3 lightly trafficked mile loop trail, and if you have a dog, this is the perfect hike for them too!
One of my favorite things is how rural and quiet the area is. Except for when the train passes by my window, but hey, ya win some ya lose some. And I'm not losing much. Williamston gives you an up-northy vibe without having to drive several hours to get to the U.P. Not to mention, I'm a huge animal person so right around the corner from me are a few farms with some cows and horses. It makes the commute to work (which is less than 20 minutes btw) a little easier because I have a herd of friends to come home to.
If you're looking for a small hometown type vibe with great food, you'll find it in Williamston. One of my favorite places so far is Tavern 109. Not only do they have delicious food, but there's something for everyone. They also have a good drink selection with beer flights and cocktails. If you've read any of my other posts, you already know I'm gonna recommend their Bloody Mary.
