Is Waffle House really coming to Michigan?

That's the question on a lot of Michiganders minds over these last few days, because word on the street was that Waffle House has plans on building a location in none other than Michigan's capital, Lansing.

There's a Facebook post all about it. In fact, I was sent that Facebook post three times by three separate people in a matter of a few hours.

Now, I am a huge proponent of a Waffle House opening in Michigan, particularly in Lansing, as that is where I reside. Admittedly, this isn't the first time I've written about Waffle House and Michigan in the same article... You can read my arguments on why a Waffle House should come to Michigan, HERE.

All of this to say, I, too, was very excited to see this Facebook post:

However, the internet doesn't always have the truth for us.

This time, the internet lied (well, kind of).

Waffle House Locations

Take a look at the name of the entity that made that Facebook post... Mid Michigan's WOW News.

If you click into the profile, you'll see the intro that states;

YOUR Mid Michigan based news source that'll make you say WOW!

We cover unbelievable stories that may just be too good to be true!

And under the "type" of page it is, it's listed as "satire/parody".

So, long story long.. No, Waffle House isn't coming to Lansing. At least, not right now. And if they are, they wouldn't let us know about it beforehand necessarily. In the FAQ portion of its website Waffle House had this to say about future locations:

Currently we have restaurants in 25 states.  While we don’t disclose our growth plans, we are always opening new restaurants.  If we haven’t gotten to you yet, just wait.  Hopefully, we will be in your market one day soon.
