This Popular Lansing Breakfast Spot Hopes To Re-Open Soon
Breakfast; some might say the most important meal of the day. I would say the best meal of the day. I mean, why do you think there's such a thing as brinner (breakfast for dinner), or places that serve breakfast all day. That's why I was so stoked when I read that Old Town Lansing's Golden Harvest hopes to be re-opening soon!
The Lansing State Journal had a chance to speak to Golden Harvest owner, Vanessa Vicknair, and learned that repairs for the roof will be underway soon, hopefully this week. Sadly, this breakfast and brunch joint favorite has had it's doors closed for the last year and a half, partly due to a leaking roof. And once Covid hit, like many businesses, Golden Harvest faced a new set of struggles. However, things are on the up-and-up. With the help of an "anonymous local business owner" as well as donations from the community, Vicknair was able to pay back taxes as well as necessary roof repairs.
Golden Harvest is one of those places that everyone will say you need to try at least once, but I would argue that once just isn't enough. Not only does Golden Harvest rock an everyday menu, but they always have the most delicious flavors combinations on their specials board, so there is always something new to try. Delicious food isn't the only thing to look forward to; Vicknair is planning on making some outside changes; namely, adding more seating! Which, for anyone who's been to Golden Harvest knows, seating is the only thing that's a little limited.
I am truly looking forward to Golden Harvest reopening their doors so I can come and enjoy an Elvis waffle and some biscuits and gravy. How have you coped with missing Golden Harvest?
