Whether it's crafting or cooking, we've all picked up some new hobbies during the pandemic. Remember at the beginning of all of this when everyone went through their baking banana bread phase? Well, canning is the newest food related trend. CNN reports that the new trend has caused a mason jar shortage.

People have been canning for years because it's a great way to keep your food fresh after making it. Experts say we've been looking for a healthy outlet during the pandemic, which led to a boom in gardening. If you have a garden, with all that fresh food coming in, you don't want it to go to waste. Why not pick up some mason jars and can them? My brother actually started doing this after his jalapeño plant went crazy this summer. I'm pretty sure I'll be receiving jars of pickled jalapeño's for the next couple birthdays.

Of course, we know cucumbers, green beans and peppers are some common things we pickle. Here's a list of some new things you can try pickling!

Raddish

They're actually pretty popular in some food dishes. If you're doing Taco Tuesday, you can chop them up and add them to your tacos! I wouldn't judge you if you snacked on them every now and then too.

Garlic

Garlic naturally has a very strong flavor. If you pickle it, it's perfect to add to a homemade salad dressing or a stir fry!

Eggs

I know, it sounds gross. But they're so good! You can eat them as a snack or throw them into a salad! If you're into deviled eggs, you can make some bomb deviled eggs with them this holiday season.

Green Tomatoes

We all know fried green tomatoes are delicious! After I watched the movie for the first time, I was like I gotta get my hands on these. Well, pickled green tomatoes are the bees knees! You can make them into a relish or my favorite, add them to a Bloody Mary!
