For the last couple of weeks, the telemarketing calls to my cell phone have been RELENTLESS! I've registered my cell phone number on the National DO NOT CALL Registry and STILL the calls keep coming! Well, this could be the reason why...According to FOX 17, the Better Business Bureau is warning cell phone owners to beware of bogus callers. These scammers are apparently using a technique called "spoofing" to get around call-blocking apps and the National Do Not Call registry.

What they seem to be doing these days to try and trick people to answer their phone, is using a similar number to your number to increase the chances that you actually answer the phone call. Unfortunately, once they get you on the phone, the scammer asks for personal information and well, you know the rest...

So, how do you get them to stop calling? Well, there's no magic answer, however, the Better Business Bureau suggests that you don't answer calls from unknown numbers and if you do get tricked and answer the call and get a recorded message, DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS. The BBB says that if you do, you may be encouraging more phone calls. And finally, NEVER EVER give out any personal or financial information.
