Someone Turned Lansing’s Old Rum Runners Into A Loft, And It’s Awesome
What was once a dueling piano bar, is now a gorgeous loft in downtown Lansing. And after looking at how awesome this loft is, I feel like I need to go on HGTV and have someone make over my place, because oh my goodness, this loft is so freaking cool.
The Lansing State Journal was able to get a peak at the bar-turned-loft space, and it's utterly cool. Paul Rathburn, the now owner, and his girl friend purchased the building back in May of last year and spent seven months on renovations and designing the space themselves. They just got to move in in December.
They took the carpet off the floors, and when they did, it revealed original floors from 1907, so they decided to keep them and were able to find someone to resurface them. They incorporated a two sided fireplace, a wall full of Rathburn's guitars, and they even have an old Rum Runners cooler that they stock with drinks (perfect for entertaining!). Check out photos of the space here!
