Many Lansing residents have long disliked Lansing's overnight parking ban. If that happens to be you, get ready for some changes.

According to the Lansing State Journal, Lansing's City Council unanimously voted to approve "a permit system that creates an exception to Lansing's ban on overnight street parking." Finally, a chance to park on the street in Lansing between 2 and 5 am... not like a lot of people haven't been doing that already... the ban just doesn't really get enforced.

The new exception would be in the form of a parking permit available to those who live in certain "high-density areas." There's no word yet on how much a parking permit would be or where overnight parking would be allowed, but At-large Council Member, Peter Spadafore said that the new system might be in place as early as 2019.

A lot of details still need to be hammered out. To get more info on the possible new parking options, click here.
