The American Red Cross in Michigan announced this week that they would be cutting the operations of their mobile blood drive in the region.

According to WILX-TV, the cut in operations unfortunately will also mean a job cut for over two hundred American Red Cross employees in Michigan. The locations of these job cuts are here in Lansing, Grand Rapids, Flint, Kalamazoo, Petoskey and Muskegon.

The jobs losses will take place in November of this year.

The American Red Cross says that the reason for the cut in the operations of their mobile blood drive and subsequent job cuts is that they are not only moving to consolidate and be more cost effective, but that there isn't as great of a demand for blood these days.

The job cuts left many surprised and upset.
