It appears that people across the United States are getting strange packages of seeds in the mail that appear to be coming from China and yes, according to the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, that includes people living in Michigan. If you've received a strange package in the mail that happens to contain some seeds that you didn't order and that package happens to come from China, officials are urging you to NOT throw away those seeds.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development posted a warning about the seed packages on their Facebook page earlier this week. Again, they are urging Michigan residents to NOT THROW AWAY THOSE SEEDS because the seeds "could be invasive, introduce diseases to local plants, or be harmful to livestock". If you get one of these packages, the MDARD asks that you please hold on to the seeds, packaging and mailing label and to let them know about the seeds. You can call the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development at 800-292-3939 or reach them by email at MDA-Info@michigan.gov.
