October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime and this year alone, an estimated 41,760 women will die from breast cancer in the U.S. Early detection is key when it comes to the battle against breast cancer. There are several events being held in the Lansing area throughout the month of October to support the cause. One of those events is the 12th annual  "It's A Breast Thing" fundraiser that is happening on Tuesday, October 1st from 5 pm to 8 pm at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath. The fundraiser showcases the latest information on breast health, breast cancer prevention and treatment and raises money to help breast cancer patients who are going through treatment with financial services.
