The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down near Vernon, Michigan in Shiawassee County last night shortly after 7:00pm and that the same tornado also touched down a few minutes later in Durand. Last night, police officials at the Shiawassee Central Dispatch/Emergency 911 were asking residents to stay off the roads telling residents there that "Consumers and road commission are out trying to do their jobs and it’s making it more difficult to do that with people out and about.

Officials with the National Weather Service will be in Shiawassee County today surveying the damage from yesterday's tornadoes. According to a report from WILX, officials say that at least 50 homes were damaged from yesterday's storms. There have been no reported injuries from yesterday's tornadoes.
