What the Heck is Happening With Mr. Taco?
Mr. Taco has been a long-standing, quirky, piece of Lansing history.
But that history has not been without some ups and downs.
Mr. Taco in Lansing
Since it reopened in 2018, at least once a year for about 3 or 4 years, there would be some kind of rumor that Mr. Taco was going to be closing. Only rumors, that is, until it finally closed and got put up for sale in February 2023.
At the time of its listing, the seller was asking $950,000 for Mr. Taco. There is a commercial listing for it, however, a lot of the details are private.
Nowadays, whether rumor or joke, the name 'Mr. Taco' seems to be on everyone's lips again.
Is Someone Buying Mr. Taco?
Recently, Saddleback BBQ shared a funny post to their Facebook page.
Maybe it was a joke. Maybe it was a little tongue-in-cheek with a hint of realness behind it... whatever it was, it definitely got people talking about how this collaboration NEEDS to happen.
Terri B. said, "That would be amazing! If anyone can make it work, it’s y’all!"
At the end of the day, whether it's Saddleback BBQ or a different person or business, it seems like the support is there to get Mr. Taco reopened. And, to perhaps get a bit more consistency when it comes to hours and days of operation. Not that announcing on Facebook what the hours would be wasn't working... When Mr. Taco was open, it consistently had a drive-thru line that would spill out onto MLK. But, just a thought.
