You might want to stay away from the spicy foods as the FDA announced this week that some heartburn medications are being recalled.

According to the FDA, the heartburn medications that are being recalled this time around include:

  • Appco Pharma LLC is voluntarily recalling prescription ranitidine hydrochloride capsules.
  • Northwind Pharmaceuticals is voluntarily recalling prescription ranitidine tablets (150 mg and 300 mg), manufactured by Glenmark Pharmaceutical Inc.

The FDA says that these two medications are being recalled because "they may contain unacceptable levels of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA)." If you are currently taking these medications, they suggest that you talk to your health care professional about other possible treatment options for your heartburn.
