Michigan Library Adds ‘ReadBox’ To Encourage Kids Away from Videos and Games
Every parent worries about the amount of screen time their child clock each day. Portage District Library hopes to up their "page time" by building a "ReadBox" into their Youth Services area.
The gimmick is, of course, a play on the RedBox video rental kiosks seen any so many grocery stories, pharmacies and gas stations.
Unlike the RedBox, anything rented from the ReadBox is free with your library card, that same library card that can save you money when you pick up a Michigan Activity Pass. The ReadBox is categorized by genre like Comedy, Drama and Fantasy.
Parents, not surprisingly, loved the idea after PDL shared the image on their Facebook page:
Thank you so much for doing this! I always made my kids read the book before they saw the movie. It made a difference!
What a great idea! So fun!
