Michigan is starting to stir as we anticipate spring and summer. Most campgrounds open up during the month of April. Did you know that Michigan ranks #7 when it comes to the best states for camping?

I've been camping in Michigan for decades. I used to be a tent camper when I was younger. I enjoyed setting up camp, the bonfires and the amazing memories that I have collected. I'll use the "I got older" excuse for preferring RV camping vs. tent camping. Too many times I have awoke to water in my tent and my gear soaked. I like staying dry is more accurate description of why I prefer RV camping.

A recent study ranked Michigan at #7 of all fifty states for best camping. That's impressive and they based their rankings on the following:

We compared the 50 states based on 25 metrics, such as campsite access, acreage, and trails. We also considered safety, supplies, camper satisfaction, and affordability.

Michigan ranking in the top 10 for best camping states does not surprise me. All you have to do is visit one of the thousands of campsites in Michigan to find out for yourself.

There are plenty of awesome campgrounds around Michigan. I enjoy spending time in Ludington and they have some nice campgrounds in Ludington along with plenty of family fun, read more.
