Grand Ledge Author Releases Second Novel

Warmer weather is here! Are you looking to get outside and kick back and relax with a good book? One of my favorite things to do when the weather is warm is to set up my hammock between two trees and read a book.

If you're looking for a good series that's close to home, you've come to the right place!

Grand Ledge author R.J. Erskine released a new novel, "Prometheus Scorned." It's a sequel to his novel "Casting Demons into Swine." The books are set in Pennsylvania and focuses on the life of large animal veterinarian, Malcom Cromarty.

In "Casting Demons into Swine," Cromarty moves to the heart of a small Amish town after going through a divorce and discovers that it's not easy being an outsider. He receives some push back from the community when there's a disease outbreak that doesn't follow any textbook.

Erskine's new novel, "Prometheus Scorned," is based on a true story from 1980. In 1982, Darvin Ray Peachey torched seven Amish barns and a school house. Six of those barns were destroyed and several farm animals lost their lives in the fire.

In the beginning of the novel, authorities believe the fires are from a dry spell, but soon discover that they have an arsonist on their hands. The community comes together to slow the growth of the fires and catch those involved.

Author R.J. Erskine recently retired from MSU's College of Veterinary Medicine. He's currently working on a third book, which will be about Amish witchcraft.
