Think about where we are and where we were a year ago. We have persevered and made it through the storm when it comes to Covid-19. We have three, count them, THREE vaccines.

Hospitalizations are on the decline.

Immunizations are on the rise.

States are easing restrictions. Some are doing away with mask mandates all together.

To date, four states that had mask mandates covering the general public have lifted them: Montana, Iowa, North Dakota and Mississippi. Texas is set to become the fifth on March 10, when Gov. Greg Abbott says his 8-month-old mask order will expire. (AARP)

While things are getting better, we have to be cautiously optimistic. And ease back into normal life. Just because we have a vaccine...sorry...VACCINES doesn't mean we can just jump right back in there and go back to doing everything we did pre-covid. But the CDC has issued some guidelines.

Fully vaccinated people can:

  • Visit with other fully vaccinated people indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing

  • Visit with unvaccinated people from a single household who are at low risk for severe COVID-19 disease indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing

  • Refrain from quarantine and testing following a known exposure if asymptomatic (CDC)

While fully vaccinated people CAN do the above, they STILL advise you to wear masks, social distance, and so on.

Because we're not done by a longshot. It's still out there. And it can affect you, your family, or in the case of the City of Mason, the majority of the Public Works Department.
