Picture yourself on Mackinac Island as they light up the Island's Christmas Tree with lots of beautiful colored lights and to top it all off, carolers singing while all the festivities are taking place.

Talk about the perfect way to kick off the holiday season. The lighting of the Mackinac Island Christmas Tree will take place on Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m.

Now that we all have the date written down in our planners, we can start making plans to head to Mackinac Island to witness the spectacular lighting of the Island's Christmas Tree.

I've been to Mackinac Island for the 4th of July celebration several times, and I think it's time to step it up and enjoy all of the festivities planed for Dec. 3 on the Island.

According to mlive.com:

The downtown Tree Lighting event on Main Street typically draws the year-round islanders, as well as some of the summer home crowd who return for the event, and some tourists who either come just for the day or book a room for the weekend.

I think it would be fun to go for the day, but why not spend a little extra cash and stay at a Bed and Breakfast on Mackinac Island? There will be a few hotels and B&Bs open for this annual event on Dec. 3.

Mlive.com also adds:

From the tourism bureau: "Don't miss out on the virtual and snowmobile raffle, wreath and garland sales, and a knitting competition! All proceeds stay on the Island and help pay for the heat bill at Mackinac Island churches and the Medical Center."

Mackinac Island is such a wonderful place to take the whole family to during summer vacation, but why not change it up a bit this holiday season by traveling to the Island.
