Luke Bryan Surprised With ACM Album of the Decade Award at Grand Ole Opry [Watch]
Luke Bryan had a special surprise interruption during his Grand Ole Opry performance on Tuesday night (Oct. 22). The "Knockin' Boots" singer was presented with the Academy of Country Music's Album of the Decade award for Crash My Party.
Bryan was performing at the Grand Ole Opry for the Opry Goes Pink special event, which benefits the Susan G. Komen Foundation in support of breast cancer research. The 43-year-old flipped the switch to turn the Opry pink and then played his hits during the live performance and radio broadcast, including "Most People Are Good," "Huntin', Fishin' and Lovin' Every Day," "Play It Again," "Do I" and "Drink a Beer."
The superstar was surprised with the trophy at the end of his performance. Bryan invited his producers, Jeff and Jody Stevens, to the stage to share the honor.
"I haven't had the opportunity to thank them at an awards show, and I want everyone to know how hard these guys have worked," Bryan told the crowd.
“Crash My Party was such a life-changing album for us. We didn’t know it at the time, we were just loving making music for you guys. It blew my mind the love and support we had from the fans. It’s so fun getting to do this. Thank you to my producer Jeff and my record label and management for sharing this experience with me tonight!” Bryan shared to roars from the audience before giving his wife and mother shoutouts from the stage.
Crash My Party was Bryan's fourth studio album, which he released in 2013. The album reached No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and the all-genre Hot 200 chart. According to a press release, the ACM Album of the Decade award "recognizes an album that has impacted country music over the decade."
Previous ACM Decade award winners include Miranda Lambert for Song of the Decade for "The House That Built Me," Rhett Akins for Songwriter of the Decade, Chris Stapleton for Artist-Songwriter of the Decade, Jason Aldean for Artist of the Decade and Florida Georgia Line for Breakout Artist of the Decade.
