Multi-decade head coach of football and wrestling and alum at Holt High School, Rupert "Rocky" Shaft has passed away.  That's according to WILX-TV's David Andrews.

Shaft won over 600 dual meets as a wrestling coach in the 40 years he coached the wrestling team.  He coached 200 state qualifiers and nearly 20 individual state champions since he took over the program in 1981.  He also coached three state title teams during his tenure.

He is a member of the Greater Lansing Sports Hall of Fame, the Michigan High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Rocky also coached the Rams football team from 1985-1993.  His teams went 35-46 during his tenure.

Rupert "Rocky" Shaft was 65 years old.
